Terms and conditions for Visit Tanzania

These terms and conditions govern your use of our website and the booking of travel services with Visit Tanzania. By using this website or making a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully. We may update these terms from time to time; the current version is always available on this page. Effective from 1 December 2021 onwards.

Use of this website

This website is owned and operated by Visit Tanzania. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes to browse our itineraries, request quotations, and make enquiries. You must not use the website to transmit any harmful, offensive, or unlawful material, or to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or data. We reserve the right to suspend or restrict access to the website at any time without notice.

Quotations and bookings

Any quotation we provide is valid for the period stated on it and is subject to availability. A booking is only confirmed once we have received your acceptance (and any required deposit) and we have sent you a written confirmation. Prices are in US dollars unless otherwise stated and may change before a booking is confirmed. Once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed except for changes due to government taxes, park fees, or other factors beyond our control, which we will communicate to you as soon as practicable.

Payments

Payment terms will be set out in your booking confirmation. Typically a deposit is required to secure your itinerary, with the balance due by an agreed date before departure. Failure to pay by the due date may result in cancellation of your booking and the application of our cancellation charges. We accept bank transfer and, where available, card payments. All payments must be made in the currency specified. Any bank or transfer charges are your responsibility.

Cancellation by you

If you need to cancel your booking, you must notify us in writing. Cancellation charges will apply as set out in your booking confirmation and will depend on how close to the departure date you cancel. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance that includes cancellation cover so that you are protected if you are unable to travel. We will not be liable for any loss you suffer as a result of your cancellation beyond the charges set out in our terms.

Cancellation or changes by us

We will do our best to operate your itinerary as confirmed. We may however need to cancel or alter arrangements due to circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to natural disaster, epidemic, government action, or the failure of suppliers). In such cases we will offer you an alternative of comparable standard where possible, or a full refund of monies paid to us for the affected services. We will not be liable for any additional costs you incur (e.g. flights) unless we have expressly agreed otherwise. We may also cancel if you fail to pay the balance by the due date or if we reasonably believe that your behaviour may cause danger or disruption.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that you and all members of your party have valid passports, visas, vaccinations (including yellow fever where required), and travel insurance adequate for your trip. You must comply with all local laws and regulations and with the instructions of our guides and suppliers. We are not liable for any loss or expense arising from your failure to meet these requirements. Safari and trekking involve inherent risks; you participate at your own risk and must follow safety advice at all times.

Liability

We organise your trip using carefully selected suppliers. We accept responsibility for the proper performance of our contract with you. Our liability is limited to the price you paid for the arrangements in question, except in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of our employees or agents, or in the case of fraud. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the acts or omissions of third parties (e.g. airlines, lodges) where we have exercised reasonable care in selecting them, or for events beyond our control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Travel insurance

Adequate travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests. Your policy should cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, repatriation, cancellation, and loss of baggage. We include Flying Doctors emergency evacuation cover on our safaris; this does not replace comprehensive travel insurance. We can provide general guidance but cannot advise on specific policies; you should obtain insurance suitable for your needs.

Intellectual property

All content on this website (including text, images, logos, and design) is the property of Visit Tanzania or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any of this content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent. You may download or print a single copy for personal reference only.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites for your convenience. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or practices. A link does not imply our endorsement. You use third-party sites at your own risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania. Any dispute arising from or in connection with your booking or use of this website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the website or a booking after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. For existing bookings, the terms in effect at the time of booking will apply unless we agree otherwise.
